Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov spoke about a large-scale reform in the field of social security. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Prime Minister, starting next year, when assigning benefits, priority will be given not only to a person's social category but also to how much they need state assistance.
"From January 1, this principle will work in full. Currently, large-scale explanatory work is being carried out," Bektenov said at today's meeting of the Kurultai.
The head of government explained the new procedure with an example.
"For example, today a large family – whether poor or rich – receives equal support from the state. Rich, wealthy and self-sufficient people should not receive assistance from the state. And the state should support and will continue to support only those who cannot support themselves," the Prime Minister noted.
According to him, it is wrong to consider state assistance as a payment that should be provided for life. It is an opportunity to improve a person's situation. Therefore, a citizen should strive to find work and over time leave the ranks of those in need of social assistance.
It is worth noting that earlier the Government approved the conditions for assigning, temporarily suspending and completely terminating state benefits and social payments.
