Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting on entrepreneurship development and summed up the first results of the tax reform. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Finance Minister Madi Takiyev reported that in the first half of the year, corporate income tax revenues to the republican budget increased by 15.7%. The largest growth was recorded in the financial sector and manufacturing industry.
Dynamics of small and medium businesses
According to the Ministry of Finance, the number of small and medium-sized businesses increased by approximately 550 thousand. This is due to the legalization of self-employed activities, who are exempt from paying taxes and only transfer social payments.
At the same time, about 260 thousand SMEs without employees ceased operations. The government believes this indicates a significant reduction in the practice of artificial business "fragmentation."
Simplification of tax payments
From January 1, 2026, the threshold for advance payments for corporate income tax was increased from 325 thousand to 600 thousand MCI. Thanks to this, some companies now pay tax once a year, which, according to authorities, reduces administrative burden and allows businesses to keep funds in circulation longer.
Proposals from entrepreneurs
Chairman of Atameken NCE Kanat Sharlapayev presented proposals from the business community, followed by comments from First Vice Minister of National Economy Azamat Amrin.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister instructed to continue joint work between the state and business to ensure sustainable economic growth.
"The Ministries of Finance and National Economy, together with Atameken NCE, are tasked with conducting a comprehensive analysis of the entrepreneurial sector on a monthly basis, in sectoral and regional terms, with the submission of relevant information," Olzhas Bektenov said.
According to the Prime Minister, such monitoring will allow timely assessment of the impact of decisions made and prompt response to changes in the business environment.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that during a government meeting, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov criticized the akim of Almaty region Marat Sultangaziyev for delaying the implementation of national modernization projects. The head of government said the region's explanations were unconvincing, noting: "If we listen to you, everyone is to blame except you."
