A meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council chaired by Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov was held in Minsk. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The meeting addressed cooperation among EAEU member states in trade, transport, industry, energy and the agro-industrial complex.
Olzhas Bektenov noted that during Kazakhstan's chairmanship in EAEU bodies, priority will be given to developing foreign trade and transport links and enhancing the competitiveness of national economies.
"Today we will consider the EAEU's foreign trade and transport links between our countries, as well as individual issues initiated by member states. These areas are crucial for developing national economies and enhancing their competitiveness," the prime minister said.
Special attention at the council was paid to developing the Union's transport and logistics potential and forming an ecosystem of digital transport corridors. Bektenov emphasized the importance of digital transformation in the transport sector.
It was also noted that in the first half of 2026, the EAEU's GDP grew by 1.1% compared to the same period last year. During this period, investments in fixed capital increased by 17% and reached $244.5 billion.
Following the meeting, a number of documents concerning trade, energy, industry and other sectors were signed.
The next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will be held in December in Moscow.
