A police officer in West Kazakhstan who rescued a family from a fire has been awarded. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the head of the regional police department awarded local police inspector Nurlibai Nurmukhanov from the village of Kyrkopa, Zhanakala district, for his courageous actions in saving lives.

During a patrol on the night of September 1, the officer noticed thick smoke in the yard of one of the residential houses. Arriving at the scene, he saw that a barn was on fire and the flames were spreading toward the house.

Nurmukhanov woke up the sleeping family and led everyone, including children, to safety. Then, until firefighters arrived, he helped the homeowners rescue livestock and prevented the fire from reaching the house.

The department head noted that thanks to the officer's timely and brave actions, the family survived. Nurmukhanov was presented with a letter of gratitude and a memorable gift for his heroism and professional service.
