A man who killed his cousin in the village of Zhanibek in the Zhanibek district of West Kazakhstan region has been sentenced. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the regional court, the incident occurred on the night of May 18-19 this year, at around 04:00. The defendant was drinking alcohol with his cousin at his home. Later, a conflict arose between them.

The court statement said: "The defendant, while intoxicated, attempted to kill his cousin. Then, taking a kitchen knife with a black handle, he stabbed the relative lying on the ground twice in the neck. Even after seeing him bleeding, he did not stop his criminal actions. With his fists and both elbows, he struck several heavy blows to his head, jaw and the right side of his body."

In addition, the defendant struck the victim once with a knife to the facial part of the head and at least 12 times to the chest and abdomen. The victim died at the scene.

To conceal the crime, the defendant carried the relative's body to a garbage pit behind the house and buried it.

The case was heard by the specialized interdistrict court for criminal cases of the region. The man was charged under the article "murder, that is, unlawful intentional infliction of death on another person."

The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 12 years of imprisonment. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
