Six water supply facilities with a total value of 4.3 billion tenge have been returned to state ownership in the Terekti district of the West Kazakhstan region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the regional prosecutor's office, the measures taken have made it possible to reduce the drinking water tariff 4.5 times for 283 subscribers in four settlements of the district.
Audit findings
"During the inspection, it was established that water towers and water supply networks built in 25 settlements of the district between 2015 and 2025 had not been properly registered and had not been transferred to municipal ownership," the prosecutor's office said.
As a result, state subsidies were not allocated. Consequently, 886 subscribers had been paying 666.7 tenge per cubic metre of water instead of the established 150.8 tenge.
Current situation
Work is currently underway to complete state registration of the remaining 19 water supply facilities.
