A large-scale project has been launched in the West Kazakhstan and Mangystau regions to audit and inspect road safety using modern international approaches to assessing road infrastructure. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Ministry of Transport, over 2,400 km of highways will be checked against international safety standards. The project covers a total length of 2,414 km of roads, of which 1,384 km are in the West Kazakhstan region and 1,030 km in the Mangystau region.
The main goal of the project is to identify road sections that may require additional measures to improve road safety due to their engineering features. Unlike traditional inspections, road safety audit involves a comprehensive assessment of road infrastructure.
During the work, KazdorNII will use international experience in road infrastructure safety management. Based on the inspection results, engineering recommendations aimed at improving road safety will be developed for each road section requiring additional measures.
