Minister of Education Zhuldyz Suleimenova said that the primary school curriculum will change. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Currently, educational programs have been revised taking into account the age characteristics of children. The main goal is to optimize the academic load and form a solid foundation for students' reading, writing, mathematical and functional literacy.

According to the minister, 244 learning objectives in the subject "Mathematics" for grades 1-4 have been completely revised. Some objectives that did not correspond to the age characteristics of students were removed, and some were moved to higher grades. In addition, the practical orientation of the subject was strengthened, the volume of complex theoretical topics was reduced, and sections "Review of the past" were introduced at the beginning and end of the school year.

At a government meeting, Suleimenova noted that an adaptation period will be introduced for first graders. This will allow children with different levels of training to easily adapt to the educational process and systematically develop counting, reading and writing skills.

The content of language subjects has also been significantly updated. For example, the pre-alphabet period has been extended by 12 hours, with 84 hours allocated for its teaching. The subject "Native language" will be taught in the second half of the year for 102 hours. The curricula have strengthened tasks aimed at developing oral speech culture, text comprehension, reading literacy and written communication skills.

It is worth noting that in the future, the issue of abolishing summative assessments in primary grades may be considered.
