The Prosecutor General's Office issued a statement regarding information spreading on social media. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Social media has seen the spread of provocative publications and comments aimed at inciting discord in society. The Prosecutor General's Office reminds that such actions are absolutely unacceptable and will be strictly prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Penalties for inciting discord include: a fine of 2,000 to 7,000 MCI (8,650,000 to 30,275,000 tenge in 2026); restriction or deprivation of liberty for 2 to 20 years. Additionally, Kazakhstan prohibits the posting and distribution of illegal content on online platforms.
If there are no signs of a criminal offense, a fine of 20 MCI (86,500 tenge in 2026) is imposed. Therefore, it is advisable to verify the authenticity of the information being disseminated. In case of knowingly false information, criminal liability is provided.
The Prosecutor General's Office emphasizes that legal consequences arise not only for the authors of such publications but also for persons who knowingly participated in their distribution. Prosecutors urge citizens not to succumb to provocations, not to spread unverified information, and to refrain from publications and comments that could damage public harmony and mutual respect among citizens.
