How the game unfolded
By a tradition that has spontaneously taken shape this season, if Mikhail Kravets' team opens the scoring, it wins. Defenseman Jake Massie's goal in the 16th minute thus became the turning point. Afterwards the visitors scored goals of every kind. Day Logan, breaking away one-on-one. Justin Bailey, deflecting the puck after a Garrett Pilon slap shot.
After Ansar Shaikhmeddenov's goal, scored 'Bobrov-style' from behind the net, Lokomotiv goaltender Alexei Melnichuk went to the bench to be replaced. Notably, this procedure in matches against Barys has now been carried out by four clubs – Sibir, Salavat Yulaev, Lada and Lokomotiv.
And the final touch to the match result early in the third period was applied by Semyon Simonov after a solo run across the entire rink. 5:0 – another superb victory for the Kazakhstanis!
