Astana's Barys took revenge on Neftekhimik in Nizhnekamsk for a home defeat a week earlier. The Kazakhstani team, trailing 2:4 during the match, secured a 5:4 overtime victory. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

After an excellent start to the KHL regular season, Mikhail Kravets' team stalled. Three consecutive defeats left observers puzzled about what was happening to the team that had opened the tournament with one big win after another.

Course of the game

In Nizhnekamsk, things initially did not go the visitors' way either. The Kazakhstani team led for only a dozen minutes. That was exactly how long the puck from Barys' top scorer Justin Bailey remained the only one. Before the end of the first period, the hosts equalized – 1:1.

When Artur Tyanulin made it 4:2 in favor of the hosts closer to the middle of the third period, it seemed that the Astana team's prolonged losing streak would continue.

But the visitors found the strength to come back. First, Alikhan Omirbekov converted a power play – 4:3. With 12 seconds left before the final siren, Garrett Pilon equalized in a 6v5 format – 4:4. And in overtime, in 3v3 play, Semyon Simonov scored the winning goal off an assist from Vsevolod Logvin – 5:4.

Remember who opened the scoring in the match? The omen about Barys' first puck works again!
