Basketball club Barsy Atyrau, in addition to domestic tournaments, will play in the elite division of the Armenian championship in the upcoming season. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The A-League Armenia Probasket tournament features not only Armenian clubs but also foreign teams. In particular, teams composed of American basketball players who have remained without contracts from European and Asian clubs play here on a permanent basis.
For Barsy Atyrau, finalists of the Kazakhstan Cup 2025/26, this is not their first experience in tournaments of this kind. Previously, the team played in the Baltic Basketball League and also in the Rietumu League, a regional basketball league in Latvia. In these tournaments, the Atyrau team played all matches away.
Additionally, the team participated in the Eurasian Basketball League trophy. In the 2019/20 season, Barsy reached the Final Four, where they lost to Russia's Arsenal in the decisive match with a score of 78:89.
Basketball club Astana, vice-champion of Kazakhstan 2025/26, will return to the VTB United League in the new season. Calendars for both tournaments will be announced later.
