Some European countries doubt that Berlin and Paris can protect their interests in potential negotiations on settling the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The New York Times, citing three European officials, wrote that some small states, especially the Baltic countries and Hungary, which border Russia and Ukraine, do not fully trust Germany and France.
According to the publication, France, Germany and the UK, concerned about the risk of US President Donald Trump withdrawing from the negotiation process, are developing an alternative plan for talks. Paris and Berlin play the main role here.
The UK, in turn, is being cautious on this issue to avoid aggravating relations with the US President.
