A fire occurred in a fifth-floor apartment of a five-story residential building in Balkhash, Karaganda Region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The fire took place in a house on Bökeykhanov Street, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The flames engulfed household items, furniture, appliances, window and door frames, and wooden balcony structures. The total area of the fire was 30 square meters.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene quickly contained and extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to neighboring apartments. Preliminary findings indicate that the fire was caused by careless handling of fire while smoking on the balcony.
After the fire was extinguished, residents thanked the fire service for their prompt response. "We, residents of 4 Bökeykhanov Street, want to thank the fire department of our city of Balkhash for their rapid involvement in extinguishing the fire," the residents' statement said.
No one was injured in the incident.
