A pensioner in Balkhash who demanded alimony from his biological daughter had his request denied. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to court documents, the pensioner sought to recover monthly alimony for his maintenance in the amount of 10 MCI (in 2026 - 43,250 tenge). He stated that he needed funds for daily expenses and medication, and that his daughter did not provide financial assistance.

Under the law, adult children are obliged to support their disabled and needy parents. However, the city court found that the plaintiff receives a monthly pension of 128,229 tenge, and also owns a two-story residential house and a Mitsubishi Montero Sport car.

His daughter, meanwhile, is raising two children alone and works as a sales assistant with a monthly salary of 85,000 tenge.

In court, the pensioner did not provide documents confirming that he requires constant care or that his funds are insufficient to cover basic living needs. It was also established that his son provides him with financial assistance. And the pension amount exceeds the minimum wage, the court said.

The court concluded that there were no grounds to grant the request. The Balkhash resident did not file an appeal.
