A new rescue station 112 has appeared on the tourist coast of Lake Balkhash. It is located in the village of Torangalyk, Karaganda Region, and will serve more than 20 recreation areas. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Minister of Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov and Akim of Karaganda Region Yermaganbet Bulekpaev attended the opening ceremony.
The new station is located 43 kilometers from Balkhash. It is built in a capsule format and is designed for round-the-clock duty of rescuers and search and rescue operations.
The unit is equipped with an operational rescue vehicle, a boat, communications equipment, and special gear. The station grounds include an observation tower with a view of the coast, a pier for rapid deployment of watercraft, as well as recreation and sports areas. Inside, there is an administrative office, kitchen, shower, sanitary unit, and a rest room.
According to the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the station will reduce response time to incidents. Previously, calls in this area were handled by units from Balkhash, and the travel time to the scene exceeded 30 minutes.
The new station will have a staff of 12 people. Three rescuers will be on duty at a time.
During the ceremony, Chingis Arinov presented departmental awards to employees and project participants, handed over the symbolic key to the station and keys to new operational rescue equipment. After that, participants inspected the facility and familiarized themselves with the capabilities of the new unit.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that rescuers walked 30 kilometers through a blizzard to save people on the highway.
