In Kazakhstan, ice cream and edible ice production rose by 57% in January-August 2026, reaching 77,500 tonnes. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

This exceeds the total volume of ice cream produced in the entire 12 months of last year, Energyprom.kz reported. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, ice cream production reached a record level this summer. In June, output exceeded 20,000 tonnes, doubling compared to May.

Domestic market sales also grew significantly. Over eight months, sales of ice cream and edible ice amounted to 72,600 tonnes. This is almost 61% higher than in the same period last year, the portal wrote.

The share of Kazakh producers in the domestic market also increased. In January-August 2026, the share of domestic products in total market resources reached 88.2%. This is 5.2 percentage points higher than in the same period last year. The import share was 11.8%.

Kazakhstan also increased ice cream exports. In the first eight months of this year, 15,300 tonnes were shipped abroad. This is 28.9% more than in the same period last year. Kazakh ice cream is exported to Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia and other countries.

The growth was driven by enterprises expanding their production capacity. Last year, one of Kazakhstan's largest ice cream producers launched a new factory in Almaty region worth about 18 billion tenge, experts say.

Along with the increase in production, the price of ice cream also rose. In January-September 2026, producers' selling prices increased by 9.5%. For consumers, the price of ice cream and sherbet went up by 16.9%. In the same period last year, prices rose by 13.2%.
