A Kazakhstani citizen was detained in Bali during an immigration raid. She is being held at the Ngurah Rai immigration office, where staff are examining her documents and the circumstances of her stay in the country. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The check took place in the Umalas area. Along with the Kazakhstani woman, whose initials the agency gave as AS, three Russian citizens were at the villa. According to the immigration service, all four had temporary stay permits with different validity periods. The report does not specify exactly what violation the Kazakhstani citizen is suspected of.
In total, 13 foreigners were detained during raids in the Umalas, Seminyak and Canggu areas: 12 women and one man. The checks were carried out as part of an operation to identify the possible use of stay permits for activities related to prostitution. The grounds were reports from local residents and a check of information on the internet, the agency explained. At the same time, the immigration service did not report that the Kazakhstani citizen was engaged in such activity.
The detainees are undergoing checks. According to the head of the Ngurah Rai immigration office, Muhamad Novyandri, the results could lead to deportation and a five-year entry ban, as well as criminal proceedings. No decisions regarding the Kazakhstani citizen have been announced yet.
As of the time of publication, Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry had not publicly commented on the situation.
