In Kazakhstan, children in need of prosthetic and orthopedic care will receive prosthetic and orthopedic devices free of charge. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
An individual approach is applied to each child. The device is selected based on the child's health, body characteristics and specific needs, and is made to individual measurements.
An orthosis cannot be chosen independently
According to the ministry, an orthosis cannot be chosen independently based on the child's age, appearance or other signs. A specialist assesses the child's health and mobility, and determines whether an orthosis is needed. Then the type of the required device is selected and the child's individual measurements are taken. The orthosis is made based on these measurements.

Free devices
Citizens entitled to prosthetic and orthopedic care receive devices made to individual measurements free of charge in accordance with medical indications and the established procedure. This allows families to receive the necessary devices without additional costs.
Reimbursement of travel expenses
In addition, if travel to another locality is required to receive prosthetic and orthopedic care, reimbursement of travel expenses is provided. Travel expenses are reimbursed no more than twice a year. When receiving small prosthetic and orthopedic items, travel expenses are reimbursed once. The travel expenses of the person accompanying the child to receive prosthetic and orthopedic care are also reimbursed once.
