ASTANA, August 21 – Sputnik. On August 22-23, the XII World Championship in Kazakh wrestling among adults will be held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The competition will take place at the Baku Sports Palace. More than 300 athletes from about 30 countries will participate in the championship. Over two days, winners will be determined in 16 weight categories among men and women.
Men will compete in weight categories 55, 60, 66, 74, 82, 90, 100 and +100 kg, while women – 48, 52, 56, 60, 65, 70, 77 and +77 kg.
According to the competition program, each day will feature qualifying and semifinal bouts, finals, and award ceremonies.
The championship is organized jointly by the Qazaq Kuresi Association and the Azerbaijan National Sports Association in accordance with the requirements of the international organization United World Wrestling.
The XII World Championship in Baku will contribute to the further development of Kazakh wrestling at the international level, enhancing the prestige of national sport and strengthening sports ties between countries, the ministry said.
