A Soyuz-2.1b rocket was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome. It placed the Progress MS-35 cargo spacecraft into orbit. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
What cargo the spacecraft will deliver
The spacecraft will deliver more than 2.4 tonnes of cargo, including fuel for refuelling the International Space Station, oxygen needed to replenish the atmosphere, water, food, sanitary and hygiene supplies, medicines and items used against the effects of weightlessness.
Progress MS-35 is also delivering more than half a tonne of equipment and materials needed for servicing the station and for the crew's scientific work.
Equipment for scientific work
In particular, these include a workstation for practising control of the Teleidroid robot outside the ISS, as well as equipment needed for various research work.
Crew aboard the station
Currently working aboard the station are Russian cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov, Anna Kikina and Andrey Fedyaev, NASA astronauts Jessica Meir, Jack Hathaway and Anil Menon, as well as European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot.
Docking time
Docking with the International Space Station is scheduled for 19 September.
