After almost 1,000 years, the Bayeux Tapestry is back on English soil. The priceless Medieval artwork was spirited into the British Museum on Friday in the dead of night, after a high-tech, tight-security operation where any slip-up could have spelled disaster. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
The 11th-century tapestry chronicles the Norman conquest of England and is normally housed in Bayeux, France. British Museum Director Nicholas Cullinan stood in front of the truck that carried the tapestry from France. Workers unloaded a box containing the tapestry from the truck. The operation was conducted in secrecy, resembling a heist movie in reverse.
