The two-day international gastro festival BaiQymyz-2026 has started at the Kazanat Hippodrome in Astana. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The festival gathered over 60 kumis producers from various regions of Kazakhstan, as well as participants from the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Yakutia (Russia).
"Visitors can taste different types of kumis, learn about the traditions of its preparation, and watch an international competition where the best producers will be determined," the statement said.
The festival offers guests cooking shows and master classes on preparing national dishes, a "Best Kazy" competition, competitions in kokpar, baige, audaryspak, kyz kuu, traditional archery, as well as games like "Koi Kotery", "Jilik Syndyry", shogen, horseback quidditch, demonstrations of war horses, a parade of ER QANATY horses, and performances by equestrian masters.
Additionally, the festival hosts the "Dastur Sani: BaiQymyz-2026" contest aimed at promoting national culture and traditions. Its results will be announced on July 12.
The main stage will feature performances by Sadraddin, Kazybek Kuraish, Gazizkhan Shekerbek, the ethno-folklore ensemble "Turan", Zhubanysh Zheksen, Kairat Baekenov and the Format group, Kydyrali Bolmanov and Karakat Abildina, and other artists.
Entrance to the festival requires purchasing a ticket for one or two days. Pensioners and children under 16 enter free of charge.
