Kazakhstan may set up production of another BAIC (Beijing) crossover. Kursiv Avto found a new certificate for BAIC X75 in the vehicle type approval registry (OTTS), issued for the SaryarkaAvtoProm plant. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the OTTS, assembly of the Chinese crossover is planned at the enterprise in Kostanay. The document is valid until July 2029 and covers serial production of the model. It lists three commercial names at once — X75, X7, and X7 Plus. This happens when the same model is sold in different markets under different names or in different configurations.
In Kazakhstan, the crossover will get front-wheel drive and a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 177 hp and 300 Nm of torque. The model's dimensions are 4745 × 1892 × 1715 mm with a wheelbase of 2800 mm.
Options and equipment
Among the declared options are a panoramic roof, power tailgate, dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, surround-view cameras, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring.
Also included are a digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch multimedia screen, and an audio system with eight speakers.
Significance of obtaining OTTS
Obtaining an OTTS does not in itself guarantee an imminent sales start, but such documents are usually issued shortly before a model launch or the start of local production.
Earlier, Kursiv Avto reported that BAIC is preparing to produce at least five models in Kazakhstan. In July, similar OTTS were issued for BJ30, BJ40, BJ60, X35, and X55. Now X75 may join them.
