Kazakh cyclist Rinata Sultanova won the gold medal in the women's individual road race at the XX Summer Asian Games in Japan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

This is the first gold award for the Kazakhstan national team at this year's Asian Games. Rinata Sultanova won on the first competition day and opened the national team's gold medal count.

This is Rinata Sultanova's second Asian Games. Previously, at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, she won a bronze medal in the individual time trial.

Ministry comment

"In recent years, together with the relevant federation, special attention has been paid to preparing athletes for major international competitions and participation in Asian championships and other important events," the Ministry of Tourism and Sports said.

Another team medal

Earlier, the republic's team's first medal in men's triathlon was won by Arlan Zhanabay. He achieved a bronze medal.
