Historic achievements

At this year's Asian Games, Kazakhstan's team achieved unprecedented results in the country's history in a number of Olympic sports. One of the main achievements of this year's Games was the boxers winning a gold medal at the Asian Games after a 12-year break.

Previously, the national team last won Asian Games gold in 2014. At the two subsequent Asian Games, Kazakh boxers could not become champions.

Boxers' victory

In Japan, Torekhan Sabyrkhan won the championship in the weight category up to 70 kg, and national team captain Aibek Oralbay won in the category over 90 kg.

Aibek Oralbay won the gold medal of the Asian Games.

Historic gold in fencing

In team sabre, Kazakhstan's men's team won the first gold medal in the history of the Asian Games. In the final, our compatriots defeated the Korean team with a score of 43:42.

The opposing team also included Rio 2016 Olympic champion Park Sang-young in the individual competition. This victory was a natural continuation of historic wins for Kazakh fencers.

The national team first triumphed at the Asian Championships, then became world champion for the first time, and now has claimed Asian Games gold. Previously, no team had achieved such a result in a single season.
