Azat Peruashev, chairman of the Ak Zhol party, announced at today's party congress that he has decided to terminate his powers. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

"We are not standing before changes; we are in the flow of these changes. But monopoly can hinder it. And the best cure against monopoly is the rotation of leadership. Therefore, in order not to restrain new ideas and impulses, I have decided to step down from the post of party chairman. I ask you to accept this decision without debate," he said.

It is noted that Peruashev has served as party chairman for 15 years. At the party congress, Daniya Yespayeva was elected as the new chairman.
