Kazakhstan continues to expand air traffic with Azerbaijan. The number of regular flights between the two countries has increased, and two more new routes may open soon. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, from June 16, the Azerbaijani airline AZAL began operating direct flights on the Shymkent – Baku route. Flights are operated three times a week.
Thanks to the launch of the new direction, the total number of flights between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan increased from 30 to 33 per week.
In addition, the carrier plans to open two more regular routes to the capital of Azerbaijan. These are Aktobe – Baku with a frequency of three times a week and Atyrau – Baku with a frequency of four times a week.
"Expanding the route network will strengthen trade and economic ties between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, and also create additional opportunities for the development of business and tourism cooperation between the two countries," the Ministry of Transport noted.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the Kazakh low-cost carrier FlyArystan announced a promotion on the new international route Aktau – Urumqi. The cost of a one-way flight starts from 41 thousand tenge.
Another new route connected Aktau and Batumi. Meanwhile, Air Astana is restoring regular air service with Dubai.
Since June 12, a new airline FlyOne Armenia has entered the Kazakhstan market with flights on the Yerevan – Almaty route.
