Facts of beating children requiring special care have been identified at the Ayagoz district Center for the Provision of Special Social Services. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to information distributed by the regional prosecutor's office, caregivers took advantage of the children's helpless state and systematically subjected them to physical and psychological violence. More than 100 facts have been established so far.
Some employees of the institution, although they saw everything, did not take any measures. "In order to ensure the safety of the pupils, the guilty persons involved have been suspended from performing their official duties, and their communication with the children has been restricted," prosecutors say.
A pre-trial investigation has now been launched under Part 3 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code (failure to fulfill duties regarding the upbringing of a minor, committed against two or more persons).
In order to protect children's rights, the prosecutor's office of the Abai region has launched inspections at centers for the provision of special social services. It is noted that this act provides for punishment in the form of restriction of freedom for up to three years or imprisonment for the same term. Deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to five years is also possible.
