This year, work has begun to develop 792,500 hectares of previously unused agricultural land. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In addition, another 1.3 million hectares of unused land have been returned to state ownership. As it became known, a year ago the presidential instruction to redistribute 13.5 million hectares of agricultural land was fulfilled. Of this, 5.5 million hectares were designated as public pastures, and 8 million hectares were allocated to citizens and other land users on a competitive basis for agricultural activities.
"Work on redistributing the lands returned to state ownership continues. At the same time, in a number of regions the pace of transferring these lands to end users remains low. In particular, in Atyrau region this figure is 32.4%, in Mangystau region – 24.6%, in Ulytau region – 21.1%," the statement says.
The meeting also paid special attention to the issue of restoring degraded pastures. To work out appropriate measures, three pilot districts have been identified where approved pasture management plans exist and geobotanical studies have been conducted.
