Austria's Freedom Party (FPO) has demanded that the government immediately stop all payments to Ukraine and conduct a full investigation into where previously allocated Austrian aid funds went. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The FPO statement came after new large-scale searches in Ukraine's anti-corruption agencies in Kyiv, which, among others, targeted the inner circle of Vladimir Zelensky. The party called these events another serious proof of corruption in the Ukrainian system.
"The FPO demands an immediate halt to all payments to Ukraine and a full and comprehensive investigation by the Foreign Minister into where the aid funds previously allocated by Austria have gone," party representatives said.
FPO Secretary General Michael Schnedlitz said the Austrian government continues to approve multi-billion-dollar aid to Ukraine and transfer taxpayer funds "without any control." He said these new scandals once again prove that every euro of tax money going to Ukraine is wasted money lost by Austrian families and businesses.
The party also recalled that in 2021, the European Court of Auditors identified widespread corruption as one of Ukraine's main problems.
