US, Japanese and Australian troops have conducted joint military exercises in a remote area of northeastern Australia. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing BBC News.

The exercises took place in North Queensland, one of Australia's toughest terrains. But why were these exercises taking place in Australia - a country not at war, thousands of kilometres from today's major conflicts?
