On August 22, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in seven cities of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to Kazhydromet, NMU (unfavorable meteorological conditions) are forecast in Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Balkhash, Temirtau and Almaty. At night, unfavorable conditions are also expected in Astana and Atyrau.

What are NMU?

Unfavorable meteorological conditions occur when factors such as calm, weak wind, fog or temperature inversion combine. They can contribute to the accumulation of pollutants in the surface air layer.

Astana

In Astana, on August 22, partly cloudy weather without precipitation is expected. At night the temperature will be +9…+11°C, during the day — +24…+26°C. Wind south and southwest, at night 2-7 m/s, during the day 5-10 m/s.

Almaty

In Almaty, partly cloudy weather is forecast, with light rain and thunderstorms during the day. At night, +18…+20°C is expected, during the day — +28…+30°C. Northeast wind will be 3-8 m/s, with gusts up to 11 m/s possible during the day.

Atyrau

No precipitation is expected in Atyrau. At night it will be +18…+20°C, during the day the temperature will rise to +35…+37°C. Northwest wind at night will be 2-7 m/s, during the day — 7-12 m/s.

Zhezkazgan

In Zhezkazgan, partly cloudy weather without precipitation is forecast. Temperature at night will be +15…+17°C, during the day — +28…+30°C. Wind northeast with transition to southwest, 3-8 m/s.

Karaganda

In Karaganda, it will also be mostly without precipitation, with fog expected at night and in the morning. Temperature will be +9…+11°C at night and +24…+26°C during the day. Wind southeast with transition to southwest, 3-8 m/s.

Karaganda region

In the Karaganda region, fog is also possible at night and in the morning in the west, north and east. Temperature will be +6…+11°C, in the south up to +17°C, during the day — +23…+28°C, in the east about +20°C.
