An electric Audi A6 Sportback e-tron performance drove 1,338 km on a single charge and entered the Guinness Book of Records. The driver was reigning European Rally Champion Miko Marczyk, and average energy consumption was 7.09 kWh per 100 km. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

How the record run unfolded

The record run began on 11 September at 1:55 a.m. Marczyk drove along the Vistula through Kraków, Sandomierz, Warsaw, Toruń and Grudziądz to the Baltic Sea, then returned along the same route.

The car travelled on ordinary roads in general traffic, including during rush hours. The average temperature during the trip was 15 degrees, and early in the morning in Grudziądz it dropped to 7 degrees. The entire trip took more than 45 hours and ended between Toruń and Ciechocinek after 1,338 km.

WLTP and the record result

According to the WLTP cycle, the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron performance can travel up to 777 km. To achieve the record result, Marczyk accelerated smoothly, assessed the road situation in advance and made maximum use of recuperation.

"Even for me, the result of 1,338 kilometres was a pleasant surprise," the racing driver said.

In addition, tyre pressure was checked before the trip: correct values reduce rolling resistance and help save energy.

Technical specifications

The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron is built on the PPE platform and uses an 800-volt architecture. The battery has 100 kWh gross and 94.9 kWh usable capacity. Maximum recuperation power reaches 220 kW, and in everyday driving the system can handle about 95% of braking.

At high speed, aerodynamics is especially important. About 40% of the Sportback's energy consumption in the WLTP cycle comes from air resistance, and the model's Cd coefficient is 0.21. The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron is therefore considered the most aerodynamic car in the brand's history.

Earlier, Kursiv Auto reported that European Audi had begun blocking grey imports of Chinese AUDI electric cars.
