In Atyrau region, Potentsial Oil LLP was fined more than 1.4 billion tenge for violating environmental protection requirements. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This was announced by the Ministry of Ecology. During the inspection, it was found that the company did not conduct proper monitoring of the environment.
Violations of environmental requirements
In particular, the requirements for monitoring wastewater were not observed, and mandatory environmental reports were not submitted.
"In addition, there was no proper environmental permit for emissions of pollutants and for the performance of certain types of work. The established emission limits were exceeded, and the requirements for managing production and consumption waste were also violated," the ministry reported.
Furthermore, soil contamination and sludge accumulation at the bottom were detected. The waste management program did not correspond to the actual volume and types of waste generated at the enterprise.
Court decision
"Based on the inspection results, administrative fines totaling 1.4 billion tenge were imposed. Potentsial Oil LLP appealed these measures in court. However, the courts of first and appellate instances did not satisfy the company's claims. Currently, administrative fines totaling more than 1.4 billion tenge have been fully recovered in favor of the state," the Ministry of Ecology said.
