Atyrau residents have complained about thick black smoke coming from an oil refinery unit and expressed concern about air quality in the city. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Company representatives commented on the situation. According to the plant's press service, thick steam from the unit in the evening may look like black smoke.
Company representatives explained this by the lighting angle. "The plant is operating in normal mode. No emergency situations or technological deviations in the operation of equipment have been recorded," the press service said.
Plant representatives stated that the thick smoke noticed by residents was water vapor.
