In Atyrau, an electrician who lost limbs after an electric shock at work won a court case. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the regional court, the incident occurred on December 19 at Atyrau-Zharyk LLP. The electrician was working on a power line support when he was electrocuted. As a result, he lost an arm and a leg.
A special investigation commission initially assessed the employer's guilt at 80% and the worker's guilt at 20%. However, the worker disagreed with this decision.
The court found that during the organization and conduct of work, the employer and responsible specialists violated safety requirements. The dispatcher was tasked with de-energizing the power line at the site where the brigade was to work. After confirming the de-energization, the workers began their work. However, the dispatcher, knowing that repair work was to be carried out at this site, negligently forgot about the brigade. He turned on the line to check its serviceability. As a result, the worker standing on the support was electrocuted.
The commission concluded that the accident occurred due to the victim's gross violation of safety rules. However, the court ultimately recognized "the employer's guilt – 100%, the worker's guilt – 0%".
