A man who demanded 2.5 million tenge from his acquaintance was arrested in Atyrau. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The Anti-Extremism Department received a complaint from a 35-year-old resident. According to the complainant, a resident of Inder district born in 1991 extorted 2 million 500 thousand tenge from him.
The suspect was detained near the Samal-Atyrau residential complex. During a search, 2 million 200 thousand tenge was confiscated from him. A video of the arrest operation was published on social media.
Currently, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated under Article 194 of the Criminal Code ("Extortion"). It is noted that this crime is punishable by a fine of up to 4,000 MCI (17.3 million tenge), correctional labor of the same amount, community service for up to 1,000 hours, as well as restriction or deprivation of liberty for up to four years. In addition, by court decision, the guilty person's property may be confiscated.
