A resident of Atyrau has been sentenced to three years in prison for attacking a temporary detention facility officer. The man pushed the policeman and then headbutted him four times. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing the publication "Ak Zhaik".
The incident occurred in cell No. 2 of the detention facility, where the Atyrau resident was placed after another arrest. The initial reason for his detention is not specified in the case materials.
During an inspection, two facility officers entered the cell. They were to search the detainee and ensure he had no prohibited items. According to the defendant, the officers also intended to take his clothes.
The man refused to hand over his personal belongings and got into an argument with the officers. He first pushed one officer in the chest with both hands. When they tried to handcuff him, he resisted and headbutted the sergeant four times.
As a result, the officer sustained a bruise near his left eye and a lacerated wound on his left hand. An examination determined that the injuries did not cause short-term health impairment.
In court, the man fully admitted his guilt. He explained that he became angry over the attempt to handcuff him, apologized to the victim, and asked for a lighter sentence. The officer stated he had no claims against the defendant.
Earlier, the Atyrau resident had already been convicted for a conflict related to his wife's debt. The woman, who worked as an administrator at a training center, took out a loan of 3 million tenge in her name at her boss's request. The money was intended for the boss, but the debt was not repaid on time.
The creditor went to court, after which the wife's accounts were frozen. At that time, the woman was expecting a child and could not receive the due payments.
Later, the boss came to the family to arrange a power of attorney and resolve the issue with the frozen accounts. During the conversation, a conflict arose. The man used force against the guest, took the keys to a Toyota Camry from her jacket pocket, and drove away in the car.
In the borrowed car, he traveled from Atyrau to Aktobe, then headed to Kyzylorda, where he was detained.
After the car was returned, the victim claimed that more than 6 million tenge in cash was inside. According to her, part of the money was in the glove compartment, and the rest was in a bag. Since the money was not found in the car, the man was charged with large-scale theft.
However, the court found insufficient evidence that the specified amount was actually in the car. The victim did not report the loss of money either immediately after the incident or after the car was returned. She first mentioned the cash more than a month later.
The man was acquitted of the theft charge. For using force, taking the keys, and unlawfully taking the car, he was sentenced to one and a half years of restricted freedom.
At the time of the attack on the detention officer, this conviction had not yet been expunged. The court found the man guilty of using violence against an employee of an institution ensuring isolation from society and sentenced him to three years in prison. He will serve his sentence in a medium-security facility.
