A man was fatally struck by a train in the Atyrau region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Ak Zhaik.

The tragedy occurred on August 13 around 02:00 in the village of Akkystau, Isatai district. After the collision, the train stopped, and traffic on this section of the railway was temporarily suspended.

The Department of Transport Police reported that a criminal case has been opened on the grounds of violation of traffic safety rules or operation of railway transport, resulting in the death of a person by negligence.

Investigators are establishing the causes and circumstances of the incident. Other details of the investigation are not disclosed.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that in Astana, police seized more than 2 kg of drugs and detained a 32-year-old man suspected of involvement in their distribution.

Also, in the Turkestan region, a fuel tanker with a capacity of 10 tons caught fire at a nuclear power plant, after which the fire spread to the cladding of an administrative building.
