Two members of one family in Atyrau region have contracted Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever, the regional health department reports. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The patients are being treated at the regional infectious diseases hospital. One of them is a resident of Isatai district. He was hospitalized on August 12, and the diagnosis was confirmed by laboratory PCR method. According to doctors, the patient's condition is currently moderate-stable, with positive dynamics. Treatment is carried out under the supervision of republican specialists.
The second patient was hospitalized on July 16 and is currently under medical supervision. His condition is stable, and necessary examinations and preventive treatment are being carried out. The Atyrau Health Department said that medical care is provided in full accordance with clinical protocols and recommendations of specialized specialists.
People who had contact with the patients were examined, and no signs of the disease were found. Samples were also taken from farm and domestic animals, as well as ticks in the outbreak area. Laboratory test results are negative. The anti-plague station, veterinary service, and local executive body carried out a set of measures to prevent the spread of Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever, including acaricidal treatment and disinfection.
It should be noted that people infected with Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever may develop sepsis, pulmonary edema, focal pneumonia, chronic renal failure, otitis, and thrombophlebitis.
