Atyrau Oil Refinery plans to process 3.6 million tonnes of oil this year, producing over 1.2 million tonnes of gasoline, over 1.3 million tonnes of diesel fuel, and about 148,000 tonnes of jet fuel. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the national company KazMunayGas, the yield of light oil products has exceeded 80%, and the refining depth has exceeded 90%. Thanks to measures to improve operational efficiency, the average daily production of diesel fuel at Atyrau refinery increased from 5.5 thousand tonnes per day in 2024 to 7.1 thousand tonnes.

Chairman of the Management Board of the national company Askhat Khasenov reviewed the implementation of key investment projects at the plant. He said that 17 strategic and investment projects are being implemented at Atyrau refinery. In particular, 47 measures are planned as part of the transition to an extended overhaul period. This will increase the annual refining capacity from 5.5 million tonnes to 6.1 million tonnes. Currently, the project is 23% complete.

The project involves transferring process units to a three-year continuous operation cycle. It is also aimed at ensuring stable operation of deep oil refining production and increasing the output of light oil products.

The company noted that work is underway to improve the reliability of power supply: reconstruction of external power grids, construction of a power transmission line, a backup gas turbine power plant, and introduction of an automated dispatch control system. In addition, expansion of railway infrastructure for receiving raw materials is planned.

The plant is also implementing a project to install a flare gas recovery unit aimed at reducing emissions. Work continues on equipping tanks with pontoons. These measures will reduce hydrocarbon emissions from each tank by up to 90%.
