The "Tour de Saraishyq-2026" cycling race was held in Atyrau, with more than 150 amateur cyclists aged 14 to 65 taking part. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Cyclists traveled from all over Kazakhstan specifically for the sporting event. They started the race from Sultan Beibarys Square and crossed the finish line at the Saraishyq settlement in Makhambet district.
Region akim Bolat Aksholakov also took part in the cycling race and checked the condition of the roads. The akim said that during the event he witnessed the quality of the roads.
The main goal of the cycling race is not only to cover kilometers, but also to draw attention to the historical heritage of Saraishyq and to promote active recreation and a healthy lifestyle, says one of the race participants, Anton Yatsuk.
"Everything was well organized, I got a great impression. I am from Russia myself, but I have lived in Atyrau for a long time. It would be good if such events were held more often," said Anton Yatsuk.
The cycling race was notable not only for the sporting competition, but also for a journey to the medieval Saraishyq. After covering the distance, participants visited the "Saraishyq" travel center, where they had the opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of the ancient city.
