A schoolchild from Astana became the absolute champion at the international mathematics olympiad held in Singapore. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The final of the international olympiad "StemCo Global Finals Maths 2026/SGFM 2026" took place in Singapore from June 17 to 22. The competition brought together winners of national online qualifying rounds, holders of gold, silver, and bronze awards from around the world.
Alimzhan Kopeev, a 5th-grade student of the "Smart Technological School", became the absolute champion, taking 1st place and winning a gold medal. Another student of the school, Alikhan Murat, took 3rd place and was awarded a bronze medal.
The olympiad tasks were based on Singapore's advanced mathematics education program. Participants were tested not only on their knowledge of mathematical formulas, but also on their ability to analyze complex contextual problems, logical thinking, and the ability to apply acquired knowledge in practical situations.
