Direct Astana–Bangkok flights to launch in December — Transport Ministry

The Ministry of Transport has announced the opening of a direct flight from Astana to Bangkok. The flights will be operated by "Air Astana" starting December 11, 2026. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

How the flights will operate

According to the ministry's statement, the flights will be operated twice a week using Airbus A321LR aircraft.

"Thus, after the launch of the new air route, the total number of flights between Kazakhstan and Thailand will increase to 20 flights per week across 4 routes," the statement says.

Current routes

Currently, flights to Thailand are operated on the following routes:

• 01Almaty – Phuket, 7 flights per week (Air Astana);
• 02Almaty – Bangkok, 9 flights per week (Air Astana – 6, Thai AirAsia X – 3);
• 03Shymkent – Bangkok, 2 flights per week (SCAT).

Strengthening cooperation

The new air route between the capitals of the two states will expand opportunities for tourist and business trips and will contribute to further strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and Thailand, the ministry says.
