In one of the private houses in Astana, police discovered an illegal meat processing workshop operating without permits. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to police, the finished products were supplied to private shops and cafes in the capital. During the inspection, law enforcement officers found more than three tons of meat of unknown origin and quality.

"It was established that the products were manufactured and stored with gross violations of sanitary standards. The required temperature regime was not maintained in the premises, and the meat was kept in unsanitary conditions. Part of the products already had clear signs of spoilage: a sharp unpleasant odor, accumulations of flies, and other signs indicating its unsuitability for consumption," the Astana Police Department reported.

As a result of the inspection, all discovered meat products were destroyed. The police noted that thanks to timely intervention, the dangerous meat did not reach the market and did not end up on the tables of the capital's residents.

The owners of the illegal production were held accountable.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that according to statistics for June 2026, meat prices in Kazakhstan rose to 28.6%.

The day before, Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov commented on the situation with meat prices on the domestic market of Kazakhstan and assured that no increase is planned.
