One of the most pressing issues of Astana's engineering infrastructure is the gasification of the Ondiris residential area, located in the Baikonur district. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
About 40,000 people live there, and a significant part of the private sector is still forced to heat their homes with coal, which causes seasonal smog over the city. The head of the Astana Energy Department, Adil Kanatov, spoke about the current situation and ways to solve it at a meeting of the maslikhat commission.
The head of the department emphasized that the dense individual development of the area has a destructive impact on the capital's ecosystem in winter.
"In the private sector of the Ondiris residential area, heating in winter is mainly carried out with coal, which has a negative impact on the environment and contributes to an increase in emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere in the Baikonur district and the city as a whole. At the same time, the existing central heating system does not have the necessary free capacities at the CHP-1, CHP-2, and CHP-3 sources," said Adil Kanatov.
Connecting the population to existing radial heating networks in the required volumes is not possible. Given this, comprehensive gasification of the residential area is the only appropriate solution.
The project plans to create gas distribution infrastructure with the ability to connect 2,120 potential subscribers. The project provides for the construction of gas distribution networks with a total length of about 185 kilometers and a capacity of up to 20 thousand cubic meters per hour. The infrastructure will cover about 85 streets of the residential area.
The project is proposed to be implemented on a turnkey basis, when a single contractor performs the entire range of works — from design and equipment procurement to construction and commissioning.
"The implementation of the project under this model will ensure unified management of all stages of work, reduce construction time, minimize risks of increasing the project cost, and consolidate responsibility for achieving the planned project indicators," noted the head of the department.
Maintaining tariffs and a 100 percent indicator
During the discussion with deputies, it was confirmed that the work is fully financed from budget funds, so there will be no increase in the gas tariff for residents.
The work is divided into several stages. This year, it is planned to complete the second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth launch complexes, while the rest will move to next year. The completion of the gasification of the Ondiris area will allow the capital to reach a 100 percent gasification rate of the planned residential areas.
