On July 23, Astana received 11.4 mm of precipitation in just 22 minutes. According to the city administration, the total precipitation for July 23 was 18.2 mm — about a third of the monthly norm. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The previous day, July 22, the capital saw 20.8 mm of precipitation. Thus, over two days, Astana received 39 mm of precipitation, which is nearly 70% of the monthly norm.
Due to heavy rainfall, water accumulated in some parts of the city. The consequences of the bad weather were promptly eliminated. Utility workers continue to clean collectors and storm drains.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Astana's utility services are operating in an enhanced mode. It was also reported that rescuers are providing necessary assistance to citizens, helping to free cars from flooded road sections, and ensuring safe traffic passage.
