In Astana, building facades and the use of the first three floors for commercial premises are better developed than in Almaty. This was stated by Kurultai MP and political scientist Marat Shibutov. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Requirements of the urban planning council
The parliamentarian recalls that in the urban planning council, of which Shibutov was a member, developers constantly brought projects where apartments began already from the first floor. However, experts demanded that commercial premises be designed on the first floors.
"And if we hadn't demanded it, nothing would have been done. At the same time, everyone understands that sooner or later commercial premises would have appeared, they would simply have been made from ordinary apartments, but commercial premises still have a different layout and equipment," he noted.
Capital facades better than Almaty's
In addition, Shibutov called the capital's facades much better than Almaty's. According to him, developers in Almaty often proposed "something dreary" and only after remarks added "a bit of taste and aesthetics" to it. The MP considers these factors the main advantage of Astana over Almaty.

Earlier, "Kursiv" wrote that Almaty residents were dissatisfied with the repair of facades on Nazarbayev Street. Citizens were outraged that builders paint houses selectively and only on the front side.
