One of the coffee shops in Astana offered free coffee to those who recite a surah from the Quran. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The owner of the coffee shop in the capital announced a promotion "one surah - one coffee" on social media. The muftiate commented on the initiative of the Astana entrepreneur, which encourages reciting surahs and getting free coffee.
According to the muftiate, any initiative that encourages turning to the Quran deserves a positive assessment. "However, it is important to ensure that reading the holy surahs of the Quran is not perceived as a condition for receiving material rewards," the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan said.
The Department of Religious Affairs of Astana reported that a preventive conversation was held with the coffee shop owner.
